A Covid19 Sermon

First, let me say despite what some say, “the pandemic is real”. With that being said, it is real that everyone is able to be infected. There are some groups that are more at risk to suffer extreme illness and or death. Despite the herculean efforts of man, we are unable to get rid of the virus.

What is a person to do with the threat of death all around us? My first response is for all persons to consider the recommendations of the scientific community being those that know more about Covi19 than we do

God Is the Sovereign Authority

God Is the Sovereign Authority

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

Romans 13:1–2 (NKJV) 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.  In June 2018, Romans 13 was used by Jeff Sessions to justify the Trump administration family separation policy, saying:  "I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order."

This series was spurred by another misuse of scripture by a government official trying to shame people (mainly Christians) into supporting the separation of children, of all ages, from their parents. There are not many things I hate more than to see leader with influence, Ministers, Preachers, Pastor and politicians manipulate and misuse the scriptures for their own purposes implying that God and scripture are on their side. That is why the scripture tells us to STUDY not just hear and read.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We must work to divide the truth from the false.

Lord Teach us to Pray

Posted 11/2020

Let me ask you a question, how many of you remember starting your school days with a passage of

scripture, a prayer and the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag? Those of you that do are telling you

age. Over the course of time we memorized the pledge and many of us memorized what we refer

to as the 'Lord’s Prayer."

It has been said "familiarity breeds contempt." A bible college professor of mine added to that

quote. “Familiarity also breeds complacency." I believe that this prayer has become all too familiar.

I hasten to say that none of you feel contempt for it but we may have become complacent with it.

Have You Any Time For God?

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

In many churches the focus is on making converts. Although this good I believe that there is an equally important task for the church and that is to make disciples,

Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV)  19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; ...” Amen.

For a Christian to have a productive Quiet Time with God isprobably  one of the most important things he/she can do.

Quiet Time. Definition: - A quiet time is a brief part of your day that you set aside to be alone with God. It is a time of mixing scripture, prayer and meditation. It is a time for inspiration and fellowship rather than serious Bible Study.

If I had only one sermon to preach to a church it would be this series. I hope this practice blesses you as much as it has blessed me.

All Things For Our Good and Predestination

All Things For Our Good and Predestination

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

Romans 8:28 is considered by some to be one of the most misunderstood passages in the Bible.

“This passage is surely one of the most precious to the child of God, fondly embraced in times of trial. And yet, it appears to be seriously misunderstood by many.”

Perhaps you have heard, like me, this particular verse quoted to someone going through some tragedy or difficulty. In trying to comfort them, many well-meaning Christian people would quote Romans 8:28. But does this verse apply to every situation and to everyone?

I intend to ask some basic questions along the way and also provide biblical answers to them. Some include the following:

1. Does v28 apply to all things, including evil and to all people?

2. Has God already determined the destiny of everyone through predestination?

3. If so, then are there some people that have no chance to be saved and are predestined to go to Heaven or hell?

4. If, so then how does freewill and free choice figure in?

5. What about the doctrine of Election? Does God elect (choose) some over others for eternal life or hell?

Are You a Disciple

Are You a Disciple?

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

If a Christian is not careful, he or she will seek to enjoy the fellowship of each other in a non-threatening and comfortable environment. I have heard this described as a "Holy Huddle." We may sing praises, worship and tell God and Christ how much we love them. We may give to the needy and even open our doors to visitors, but let me suggest to you, that although all of these activities are good, they are not enough for us.

Obedience to God may require us to step outside our comfort zone.

Being born again is not the climax of the purpose of salvation. If that were so, why are we not taken straight to heaven to be with God as soon as we are born again? Why are we still here exposed to the sin that pervades this world and having the potential of sinning?

Let us go to the word of God to find our answer for the true purpose of our remaining here.

I believe we are here to become disciples of Jesus and to continue the work He started and that is to make disciples. A more concise mission is given in our Scripture text Matt 28: 19-20. Jesus wants His disciples to “GO” and make other disciples.

The Promise of His Coming Again

The Promise of His Coming Again

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

When a promise is given that persons character and name is on the line. We should not have to say such thing as I promise or even, I swear, often people bring God into it. (“I swear to God”). The scriptures say our words should be enough. Our word is a promise within itself.

Matthew 5:37 (NKJV)37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

There are two main categories that demand that Jesus return.

1.  Prophecies:

Prophecy in the scripture occupies one-fifth of the scriptures and of that one-fifth 33% refer to the Second Coming of Christ.

Jesus refers to His return 21 times.

John 14: 3 (NKJV) 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

2.  Promises:

God made 33 promises regarding the deliverer but scholars say that only 109 were fulfilled in His First Coming. This leaves 224 OT prophecies remaining to be fulfilled.

Titus 1:2 (NKJV) 2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, …,

The series also touches on the tribulation, Satan vs God and the Anti-Christ. I hope the series is a blessing to you.

The Antichrist

Posted 07/22/2020

https://nehcc.org/sermon-notes

The term or the title “antichrist” appears only 5 times in the Bible and not once in the Book of Revelation. Only one biblical writer uses the term and that is John. (1 John 2:18 [2x]. 22, 4:3, 2 John 7).

There are many definitions of “antichrist” and some may surprise you.

Just to name a few people that were said to be the antichrist include:

Nero, 4-5 Popes, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler, John F. Kennedy. Henry Kissinger Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pope Benedict XVI, Barack Obama and Bill Gates III

Stewardship

Posted 04/22/2020

Money or having money is not immoral. Money is amoral (neither moral nor immoral per Webster). How money is obtained or used affect the person not the money. In many churches one of the most delicate subject to preach about is money. I do not go into all the bad things associated with money for it is not caused by the money but the “love” for money (1 Timothy 6:10). Everything in this world belongs to God including money. Those that have it are only steward of what belongs to God the same as everything else (Psalms 24:1, 50:12). I hope this series gives a new light on money and possessions.

The Inerrancy of The Bible

Posted 04/22/2020

The Bible has always been under attack regarding its authenticity, inerrancy and perceived contradictions. I remember back in the eighties there was a big argument as to the inerrancy of the Bible. Those on the side of inerrancy believes that the Bible is without error, infallibility, or contradictions. Those on the other side believed that the bible contained many contradictions and errors. The sad part is that the mass of people believed one sided or the others blindly. That is without finding out for themselves. In this series I tried to address some of the most common charges I have heard concerning the inerrancy, errancy and contradictions. I looked at difficult passages and questions like, “who did the children of Adam and Eve marry? And a secular question, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?”

Spiritual Gifts

Posted 01/29/2020

As I mentioned before, spiritual gifts and Spiritual office are two different things. Spiritual gifts are often given to assist us in our ministry of Spiritual Office.  Everyone that feels they have a spiritual gift is not automatically qualified to hold a Spiritual Office.  The same is true for those that have been given a Spiritual Office is not necessarily the one with the greatest Spiritual Gifts.  I hope this clears up a few things.

Spiritual Office i try to point out the difference between "Spiritual Gifts" and "Spiritual Office". I have heard them treated as being the same as "Spiritual Gifts". these two are related but not the same nor are they from the same source. Nor do they serve the same purpose. Why is this important? We are told to identify our spiritual gifts and to identify and seek some. If we seek Evangelism it is a Spiritual Office with its own requirements as supposed to being a Spiritual Gift. I hope this helps.

In the Fullness of Time

Posted 11/22/2019

"In the fullness of time". These word will be spoken often as the Galatians 4:4 Christmas passage will be read. It is important for us Christians to understand that God does not operate in a panic. we see things in the moment but God see things in the present and in the future. All throughout history we see god exhibit one of His greatest character traits , that is "long suffering". But history shows us that His long suffering is not unlimited and in His time He will act. Rewarding some and dispensing justice to others, I believe that God is waiting on the fullness of time before the Rapture comes and this time is winding up.

Can Our Salvation Be Lost?

Posted 11/22/2019

Eternal security, also known as "once saved, always saved", is the belief that from the moment anyone becomes a Christian, they will be saved from hell, and will not lose salvation. Not all Theologians, Bible Teachers and Bible commentators agree that there is no way for a Christian to ever lose their salvation. I was taught this doctrine for years, but I later began to study on my own and have come to a different conclusion. My goal and objective is not to convince you to think like me but to encourage you to seek your own answers. As always I try to include multiple views on the subject.

No one is born directly into adulthood or adult maturity, either physically or spiritually, that takes place through a growth process. If we do not grow, we become like children vulnerable to every wind and doctrine.

Why does God Allow Evil and Suffering?

POSTED 9/16/2019

If God is omnipotent, if God is loving and good. If God is all powerful and can create a world without evil or rid the world of evil and He doesn’t do it then He is not good and He is not loving. If God did not create or generate evil, where did evil come or originate from?  These questions along with others are fair question because we all know that evil exist. I try to answer many of the questions as I understand the answers to be.  I have included a link to my Resource and References if you choose to review them. Six Things, Plus one, That God Hates

POSTED 12/5/2018

There is always someone talking about how God is love and that is very true. (1 John 4:8,16). But we must realize that God is not a one dimensional being. God truly has a love that only a God like Him can have, but God also has wrath (Hebrews 10:31). God loves and God hates. If we love God we will love the things He loves and the things He hates. The following series Sermon Notes cover the six things plus 1 that God really hates.
